Dont try to wake me in the morning - 1:43 PM

It seemed like I was half asleep all this week. I brought a lawn mower and a compost bin. I feel like an adult now. We also got some really nice deck chairs.

Work
Last week was interesting, as some of you may know I have two bosses, and last week they had a disagreement over what i should be doing. It got sorted, but yes not as much fun as I would have liked. So last week I did ELISA which although a useful technique is boring as hell and consumes large amounts of time. I need to do some work on my paper though.

Social
Yay after my rant last week, the diet club has decided to start being fun again. So on Friday we played pool and table tennis, the pool game took forever and the table tennis was good. But unlike pool you get worse as you have more beers. Then we all got table tennis sharked by the CEO of our company. He played a lot when he was a kid. Then on Saturday night Briar and I went to the netball. Now normally I am not a netball fan, but I had been given tickets to a corporate box with an open bar and 2 course meal. And well I am in science - we don't get freebies like that. So rocked along and it was great, we got scorned at by the people there for the netball as we were deciding who was a good player based on their favorite TV programme. Briar drank 2 bottles of wine, maybe 3. And was starting get get that surreal feeling about it all. But watching netball is a lot more interesting than playing it. The meal was really nice too. Oh and the mid game intertainment was Suzanne Paul doing ballroom dancing. Some one should tell her red statin is not flattering.

Games
Patch 2.1 came out in World of Warcraft and had some interesting changes. Most importantly it had the druid epic flight form quest. But I need 5k gold to be able to got the quest. So have been grinding gold and that. Almost have my funny antelope thing. Maybe next week.
I have also clocked all the games on my cellphone except The Birds, which is so crazy hard i don't think I will be clocking it any time soon.

Last week Nick was starting early so I was getting a lift to the train, what a mistake. My days felt like they got to a slow start and i was drinking hot chocolates to wake me up. So I put I weight. Next week. Going to try and do a week meal plan today.
Books and stuff
I went and saw Spiderman 3
during the week, which was Hummm. It was long, longer than it needed to be and the best stuff was right at the start and right at the end. But I did enjoy it. Not sure I enjoyed 140min of it, as I know I looked at my watch a few times.
Reading Boy by Roald Dahl again. If you have not read his autobiography, you should as it is a damn good read. Yesterday we went to Gotham Comics, and picked up a couple of new additions to our slowly growing collection. My favorite is Hellboy, Mike Mignola's art work is very strong and I enjoy the way he tells stories. Vol. 6 has been released 5 years after vol. 5. It was really good to see where he is going with the story.
We also picked up vol 12 and 13 of Ultimate Spiderman. Which has nice art work and an average story. Rally a bit of fluff - but enjoyable fluff.

The Car
Well I haven't done anything - but my guilt level is rising. So at any point now it will have risen to a level where i will do something.

It doesn't make sense the words that we're saying - 1:14 PM

Nick and Terry have been away this weekend so I have been really productive and gotten all the house work done and lots of those little things that seem to slip through the gaps.

Work
Been on my own there too, every one else was at a conference in Palmerston North. So I should have done a lot more than I actually did. But as they say when the cat is away. The GABA assay is validated though. And I sent my constructs for sequencing. Yeah I did a lot of nothing.

Social
Again a lot of nothing happening here too. Though on Wednesday I caught up with Nick's parents and had Mother's Day dinner, if some what a little late. I have manged to swish the Warehouse twice this week. My first swish Nick was with me and he brought a whole pile of art supplies and has taken up painting. He is doing quite well at it, but I think he is getting frustrated that it doesn't just happen. He is learning to paint from scratch, like how to mix colours and that. But he is enjoying it so all good. My second swish was to check out things that I saw in my first swish but Nick was with me so didn't really look at them, nothing interesting. I have learnt while walking home is the best time to ring my mother, I am not trying to cook dinner or other things like that. I am going to try and ring all my friends some time over the next week, just for a hello and re-establish that contact. Some I feel are getting a be thin due to effort on my part.

Games
I have re-speced back to hybrid which is making me enjoy the game a lot more, and at the moment I am working my way towards a talbuk which is stylie. I think I will get the dark one. I need to get my Moonglade set so I actually have the gear for my build. But I can finally kill stuff.

Being a better person
Things are going well and I have dropped to 88.2kg. All this walking is been good for the soul, and I feel less stress. Though buying the house and getting that sorted was a big stress reducer.

Books and stuff.
I finished the book I started last week and have yet to start another one. I haven't watched any movies either.

The Car
I am starting a new section this week about my S800 to try and get me working on it. Will see, but yes I have an S800 and I need to get it running.

Oh the routine of it all and if only I was use to it. Still getting there and I still love owning my own house and two balls of fluff and trouble.

Work
Not much has changed I have still ploughing my way through accession numbers. Though they want to muck my hours around so every one can have a piece of the pie that is me. Some days it seems as though people that have the smallest bit are screaming for more, and the people with the biggest bit just want to wave it around and show it off, with out actually doing anything with it. The GABA work is looking more stable now.

Well a few things, I have a K800i cell phone, and like a teenage boy I have forgotten about my K750i, with mutters of psycho bitch about it, with whispers of true love and where have you been all my life to my K800i. It screen is so much bigger and brighter and it understands my feelings so much better. It also has 3D mini golf, I am just waiting for the memory stick to turn up. Then it will really be something to show off to my friends, kind of like dating the top cheerleader I guess. Though I am sure my K800i has more personality, and doesn't mind being passed around my friends to try.... hummmm maybe it is a cheerleader. The insurance claim for the TV has progressed, and the claim has now been sent to Noel Leemings. Who have to just contact us, about when we can pick up our new TV. We think are are getting a Sony KF42E200A 42" 3LCD BRAVIA Projection TV.Which looks better than we first though. But then some time in 2009 they are changing the standard that TV signal is sent out on, to digital which means every one will need to upgrade their TV's or buy a decoder box. So this one will do until then and the new standard is mainstream. Though it does mean we need to rethink about what DVD's we will buy and whether it is worth it, as at the moment it is uncertain whether HD or Bluray will be the new standard. Personally I think it will be HD because Sony, although has the better standards screws up by demanding every one pay them rights to use it, rather than letting 3rd grade asian rip of places have a go and making it more affordable. On Friday work had a pizza and beer night, but more of that latter. Today I am off to have Mother's Day dinner with Nick's parents. Which should be good.

Games
This will be the week for Drunk, we should get Gruul and Nightbane down. As last week we got both to 9% which was good. Last night we played Warcraft 3 Hero Siege. Which is a Warcraft 3 mod that just gives you one hero and you have to survive. Once we got the hang of our hero's it was good. The game won though. WoW really needs to put in some better thought out battle grounds, as they could be a lot of fun - at the moment they are repetitive and to large. I have yet to try arena yet.

Being a better person
Time for me to be honest. I weight 89.5kg and it is time I did something about it. I don't want to go on a diet, as a couple of my friends in Auckland have gone on diets and now instead of having fun they complain about pizza and discuss how many ways you can eat lettuce. Obsessing about food - no matter what the food is, to me seems unhealthy. I think the best way to do it is a gradual lifestyle change that stays for life. I mean I can appreciate a work of art, but I don't spend all day thinking about what I can look at and what I can't, today I can't have any Monet, but I am allowed as Van Gogh as I like. Just because I see it doesn't mean I have to buy it. Once you have the mind frame the rest follows. But I can definitely say my walking is making me feel a lot better.

Books and stuff
I have finally finished the series I was reading. And have stared a new one, again by Robin Hobb. Shamans Crossing. Only a chapter into it. So can't say much. I went and say Pan's Labyrinth which was amazing. I now know why it won so many awards. It has something for everyone and is just good. Will definitely be adding this to the DVD collection Last night night watched The Painted Veil. Which was .... it was OK. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. It you liked the Constant Gardener - then you will like this.

"But I, being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." I assume you dream.

Im going off the rails on a crazy train - 12:56 PM

This week has been all about learning the public transport system. And how it sucks.

Work
Well I got a lot done, not as much as i should have, but yeah got stuff done. I got an assay to work, but really need to do it again to show how sensitive I can get it. I have seen more gene accession numbers in the last week than I care to. They were all blending together.

Social
Has been hard as I am learning the joys of commuting. I used to have a 30sec commute - now it is 1hr. Which involves walking to the train, catching the train and walking to work. The problem is the train time tables suck. So I have to catch the 8am train in the morning and the 6pm train at night. If only there was a 5.20 train... but there is. It just doesn't stop at my stop. In the last week of using the train system it has not been working three days. Six days i have gone to use the train and on three of them it hasn't been running or has broken down with me on it. It annoys me that Aucklanders get told it would be better if we used the public transport system...... Then get us one that works. But on Friday night I went to Kelly's and played WarioWare with her. Was good. Then yesterday we went to J-Day in Albert Park. Would have been better with nicer weather. But yeah.

Oh and insurance will pay out for the TV to have stuff. And I am getting a new cell phone, some where out there is a K750i that is lost and homeless. If you find it make sure you feed it well and give it lots of love. I miss you K750i. Hopefully my phoneless will not last for long.

WoW
I actually played some yesterday just for the sake of playing did some quests and enjoyed the game for the games sake. Was really nice, and rather relaxing.

Being a better person
With all the train catching I have been exercising lots. I haven't weighted myself so not sure if it is working. But yeah walking about an hour a day has to be good right?

Books and stuff
Reading the same book. But last night I went and saw

Pathfinder.

Which was OK. It is the first movie I have seen where each shot was really really well composed and just a beautiful photo, didn't work so well as a movie. The budget looked very small, and that would explain a lot of what they did. If you don't catch it at the movies, I wouldn't worry to much can easily see it at home. Doesn't have the big action scenes that need a movie theatre.

"What if we're still doin' this when we're 50?"
